When Bobby Kirwin joined the Youth Advisory Board back in January 2016, he never would have thought that he would be working the Green Day show as Floor Staff or setting up the stage in his role as a stagehand for one of his favorite music artists, Nicolas Jaar.
He says, “I’ve always had a passion for live music, but I didn’t know how to get into the industry. When I found out about the Concert Career Pathways Program, I knew it would help shape my future. So, last January, I sent an email to The UC Theatre and I received a reply from Robyn, the Education Director, inviting me to join the Youth Advisory Board and help design the program. I jumped for this amazing opportunity!”
Bobby has put his heart and soul into theatre and he says, “Working for The UC Theatre has changed my life. I gained a world of experience — by helping create the Concert Career Pathways Program and getting to work alongside The UC Theatre staff during shows. Through this experience, I have realized that it is possible to work towards your dreams. I am eternally grateful to staff at the theatre who have been my mentors, and I am looking forward to seeing what 2017 has to offer!”
