RECAP: Official Naming Ceremony for the Taube Family Music Hall and Shana Penn Lobby

Thanks to all who attended the Official Naming Ceremony for the Taube Family Music Hall and the Shana Penn Lobby on Thursday September 29, 2016.

In April of 2014 we held our public launch announcing the Turn on the Lights Capital Campaign – to renovate this grand old theatre into a community minded music venue. In March 2015 we broke ground and started to Turn on the Lights at The UC Theatre with over $2.6 million dollars left to raise. Fundraising was moving along, but not as fast as needed… Then a miracle happened. We met Tad Taube, or should I say, The UC Theatre project was introduced to Tad Taube by Dan Ashley, one of the many people who quietly championed this project to success. Tad knew exactly what we needed to succeed at Turning on the Lights at The UC Theatre. He made an extremely generous and transformative $1.3 million Matching Challenge Grant. A challenge grant that, once matched, would raise $2.6 million for The UC Theatre.

We have many people to thank for the success of Turn on Lights Capital Campaign, but no one more than Tad. We are sincerely grateful for what Tad Taube, Taube Philanthropies, and Shana Penn did when we needed it the most, and for what they continue to do to as our partners in this amazing theatre.

We especially want to thank our Donors – people in the community with great philanthropic heart who invested in the idea of a reborn theatre’s second life as a music venue – creating community benefit through concerts, Concert Career Pathways, youth education programs, and community partnerships.
