Cortex
Adrian Younge, J Rocc

Founded and led by pianist, composer, and vocalist Alain Mion, recognized as a gold and platinum certified songwriter by the National Music Publishers’ Association, Cortex carved out a singular place in music history with their innovative fusion of jazz, rock, and funk.
Their iconic 1975 album, “Troupeau Bleu”, is widely regarded as a masterpiece and became a cornerstone of Hip-Hop sampling, its timeless grooves reimagined by artists including Tyler, The Creator, MF DOOM, Madlib, Rick Ross, Kanye West, Baby Keem, and Damso. With over 220 documented samples and more than 120 million streams across all platforms, Cortex’s influence continues to echo through the Jazz and Hip-Hop communities alike, a living bridge between the Golden Age of French Jazz-Funk and the beatmakers of today. On tour, audiences can expect selections spanning the groups’ entire career.
